Validation
We used data from more than 50 AEMET radiometric stations.
Data provided on this website (representing the long term average data) and AEMET measured data (data from a number of specific years) are compared.
Monthly graphs show the following information:
- The monthly value of the map provided (red line).
- The daily values measured on land ( Box and Whisker graphics)
- The values between the 25 and 75 percentile are shown as a blue box, divided by the median. This box gives an idea of the variability of the most likely value of long-term solar radiation at the site.
- Values outside these percentiles and until 1 and 99 percentile are represented by a dotted blue line from the ends of the box.
- Furthest values from the median measured data values are considered outliers, and they are represented as crosses.

Spatial extrapolation of the results in the 25 and 75 percentile is carried out from validation in these specific points. Thus, it can be visualized the expected value of long-term solar radiation in a particular location and the most probable values range that a month can take for a specific year (between the 25 and 75 percentile):
- If location has a mean value for a particular month bigger than P75, it could be considered a HIGH month respect the average;
- If location has a mean value for a particular month less than P25, it could be considered a LOW month from the average.
